Wedding Photography FAQ & What to Expect
Planning your wedding comes with a lot of questions—especially when it comes to finding the right Maine wedding photographer to capture your day. I’ve compiled answers to the most common questions couples ask me, so you’ll know exactly what to expect and can feel confident and excited about your wedding photography experience. Whether you’re dreaming of a romantic coastal Maine celebration, a charming barn wedding, or an intimate elopement in the mountains, my goal is to ensure your memories are preserved beautifully and authentically.
What is your photography style and approach?
I specialize in Maine wedding photography that is artfully composed and emotionally honest, reflecting the true essence of your love story. My style blends candid storytelling with relaxed, refined portraiture—so your images feel natural, not staged. I focus on capturing both the big, unforgettable moments and the quiet, in-between details that make your day unique.
What’s Included in Your Wedding Photography Collections?
Every wedding photography collection includes:
• Coverage tailored to your timeline and vision
• An online gallery of high-resolution images for easy sharing and downloading
• Full personal printing rights
• Professional editing and retouching
• Timeline guidance and planning support
• Unlimited personal use with printing rights
How Many Images Will We Receive?
On average, couples receive 75–100 fully edited, high-resolution images per hour of coverage. Every photo you receive is carefully selected and professionally retouched for a clean, polished look while staying true to the colors and atmosphere of your day.
Do You Work With a Second Photographer?
Many of my most popular wedding photography packages include a second photographer. This allows us to cover your day from multiple angles—capturing both of you getting ready, more candid guest moments, and different perspectives during key events like your ceremony and first dance. A second photographer can also be added to any wedding collection.
Do You Offer Albums & Prints?
Yes! I offer heirloom-quality wedding albums, wall art, fine art canvas, and professional photo prints. These are custom-designed to tell your story beautifully and made to last for generations. You’ll be able to order directly from your online gallery, and I’ll personally oversee album design to ensure every detail is perfect.
Will You Help With Our Wedding Day Timeline?
Yes. I work closely with my couples to create a photo-friendly timeline that ensures your day flows smoothly while allowing plenty of time for portraits, candids, and all the in-between moments.
Can We Give You a List of Specific Shots We Want?
I’ll send you a pre-wedding questionnaire to gather important details, including a list of family groupings and any must-have moments. Beyond that, I encourage couples to trust my creative process so I can focus on documenting the authentic, unscripted moments that naturally unfold.
What If We Feel Awkward in Front of the Camera?
You’re not alone! Most couples tell me this before their engagement session or wedding day—and then end up surprised by how comfortable they felt. I guide you with easy, natural prompts rather than stiff poses, so you can relax and enjoy the moment.
What Happens if It Rains on Our Wedding Day?
Rain doesn’t have to dampen your day. I’ll scout alternative covered locations, bring clear umbrellas, and work creatively with the light and environment so you still get beautiful photos—rain or shine.
How Long Will It Take to Receive Our Wedding Photos?
You’ll receive your full wedding gallery within 3–4 weeks of your wedding day. I know how excited you’ll be to see them, so I only take a limited number of weddings per year in order to get working on your wedding right away. I often deliver weddings before the 3-week mark!
Are You Insured?
Yes. I’m a fully insured professional photographer, and I can provide a Certificate of Insurance to your venue upon request.
What’s Your Backup Plan for Equipment?
I always bring professional backup camera bodies, multiple lenses, and plenty of memory cards and batteries to every wedding. All of my cameras include dual card slots for instant backups. Your memories are also backed up to multiple locations immediately after your wedding day for added security.
Do You Travel for Weddings?
Yes! While I photograph most of my weddings in Maine and New England, I’m always open to traveling for celebrations that align with my style. I’ve photographed weddings across Maine’s coastline, the mountains of New Hampshire, and other New England destinations, and I’m happy to discuss travel arrangements for your day. Travel fees may apply for destinations outside my standard coverage area.
Do You Only Photograph Weddings?
While weddings are my specialty, I also photograph elopements, vow renewals, and engagement sessions. I have limited availability each year for families and high school seniors, so reach out early if you’d like to book one of these sessions.
How Far in Advance Should We Book You?
I typically book weddings 12–18 months in advance, especially for popular summer and fall dates in Maine. If you’re planning a weekday wedding or elopement, shorter notice may be possible—but the sooner you reach out, the better chance you’ll have of securing your date.
